Amunt Martenson, Martin Gjoleka Hinterhaus

Karlsruhe, Germany

Residential architecture documentation, photographed on 35mm and medium format film, 2025

This series documented Hinterhaus, a compact residential building in a rear courtyard in Karlsruhe by Amunt Martenson and Martin Gjoleka. The photographs follow the sequence from the narrow access and exposed concrete circulation structure into the mini-apartments and three-room units, emphasising how the monolithic brick shell, CLT timber interiors and stone surfaces turn a former garage plot into a tactile, robust living space designed to withstand frequent tenant changes.
