Dan Lie – The Reek
Art installation documentation, 2024
This series documented Dan Lie’s site-specific installation The Reek, presented as a “living-and-dying installation” in which four pillars integrated into the exhibition space formed an environment activated by other-than-human organisms. The documentation focused on how fungi, plants, bacteria, and insects drove processes of growth and decay across the duration of the show, transforming materials and surfaces in an atmosphere intentionally left unburdened by human intervention. Central to the work was smell – an ever-changing, invisible architecture that reshaped the space through sensorial perception, memory, and emotion.
